As quoted in USA Today, Manny Pacquiao asked the referee to stop the game on the 11th round. However, Margarito does not want to stop the game.
“There was no way I was gong to quit. I’m a Mexican, we fight until the end,” Margarito said.
Margarito was not able to attend the postfight news conference at the request of the fight doctor due to his condition.

Arum further explained that the injury is not career-threatening. However, the surgery can’t be performed until the swelling on the eye has reduced.
“He’s in very good spirits and he’s not in pain,” Arum said. “They just have to wait until the swelling reduces, then they can do the surgery and he’ll be released to fly home.”
