Pacquiao vs Margarito Update: Antonio Margarito Suffered Orbital Bone Fracture

Earlier reports said that Antonio Margarito was rushed to the hospital after the fight for check-up. During the fight, the Mexicanboxer was badly beaten by Manny Pacquiao on Saturday night.

ESPN reports said that Antonio Margarito suffered a fractured orbital bone to his face and was expected to stay in the hospital for observation until Sunday.
Orbital bone according to Wikipedia is the cavity or socket of the skull in which the eye and its appendages are situated.
As quoted in USA TodayManny Pacquiao asked the referee to stop the game on the 11th round. However, Margarito does not want to stop the game.
“There was no way I was gong to quit. I’m a Mexican, we fight until the end,” Margarito said.
Margarito was not able to attend the postfight news conference at the request of the fight doctor due to his condition.
Antonio Margarito’s face was so badly beaten byManny Pacquiao in Pacquiao vs Margarito boxing match this weekend. Earlier reports said that MexicanAntonio “Tijuana Tornado” Margarito suffered a fractured orbital bone to his face.  Margarito‘s face was cut open during the fight and it was incredibly swollen by the end of round 12, but the Mexican boxer was determined to make it to the end of the fight before losing a unanimous decision to Pacquiao.
According to ESPN.comTop Rank promotor Bob Arumsaid that Margarito had to undergo facial surgery, onTuesday at Dallas Methodist Hospital, to repair a fractured orbital bone in his face. Arum further explained that the injury is not career-threatening. However,  the surgery can’t be performed until the swelling on the eye has reduced.
“He’s in very good spirits and he’s not in pain,” Arum said. “They just have to wait until the swelling reduces, then they can do the surgery and he’ll be released to fly home.”
